Graduation and Promotion Policy
Southwark School follows the Graduation and Promotion Requirements of the School District of Philadelphia. Please look at the Office of Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment website for the most up-to-date marking information.
Grade-Specific Promotion Guidelines
Grade One Promotion Guidelines – A Student Must Have:
A reading level of G or above
A math level of Basic (2), Proficient (3), or Advanced (4)
Grade Two Promotion Guidelines – A Student Must Have:
A reading level of L or above
A math level of Basic (2), Proficient (3), or Advanced (4)
A science level of Basic (2), Proficient (3), or Advanced (4)
Grade Three Promotion Guidelines – A Student Must Have:
A reading level of N or above
A math level of Basic (2), Proficient (3), or Advanced (4)
A science level of Basic (2), Proficient (3), or Advanced (4)
A score at Basic or above in End-of-Grade assessments in Reading and Math
Successfully participated in a group Multidisciplinary Project or Service Learning Project
Grades Four, Five, Six, and Seven Promotion Guidelines – A Student Must:
Achieve at least at the Basic Level in Reading and Mathematics, as defined by performance descriptors aligned with PDE standards and found in the Core Curriculum
Earn a passing grade in science.
Score at Basic or above in End-off-Grade Assessments in reading and math
Grade Eight Promotion Guidelines – A Student Must:
Achieve at least at the Basic Level in Reading and Mathematics, as defined by performance descriptors aligned with PDE standards and found in the Core Curriculum
Earn a passing grade in science and social studies
Score at Basic or above in End-off-Grade Assessments in reading and math
Successfully participated in a group Multidisciplinary Project or Service Learning Project
